A Tasty Competition: USO Fort Campbell's Cupcake Wars Bring Military Families Together
By Sandi Moynihan and Eric Brandner
FORT CAMPBELL, Kentucky—Nothing brings people together like food and healthy competition.
That’s the idea behind Fort Campbell USO’s Cupcake Wars, a fierce (and tasty) cupcake competition that takes place every at the center every summer.
“Last year we had 14, 16 different entries,” said USO Fort Campbell Center Operations & Programs Manager Pamela Holz. “We had junior chefs as well, so there was a junior competition.”
Competing bakers compete for the grand prize — awarded by a panel of judges — and they can also walk away with the People’s Choice award.
“People would get, as they came into the center, a poker chip, and they would use that poker chip to vote in a jar,” Holz said. “It was really a fun, fun activity.”

Every day, America’s service members selflessly put their lives on the line to keep us safe and free. Please take a moment to let our troops know how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice.
