EY Americas ESG Markets Leader; Senior Partner, Health Sciences and Wellness

Orlan is Senior Client Partner and Senior Advisory Partner for a number of EY’s most important global client accounts. He has spent the past three decades serving in senior leadership and board roles. His consulting career spans corporate and commercial strategy, governance, growth, innovation, digital, technology, human capital, talent, change management, operations, transformation, M&A transactions, JVs, strategic alliances, public/private partnerships, geopolitics, and sustainability/ESG advisory services for CEOs, C-Suite executives, and corporate board directors of Fortune 100 companies and private equity and venture capital firms in the healthcare, life sciences, consumer, and technology sectors.
He has held various senior Lifes Sciences & Healthcare leadership roles as member of EY’s Global Life Sciences & Healthcare Board, Americas Strategy & Transactions Life Sciences Leader and Global Healthcare and Life Sciences Innovation Leader. He has served in Senior Account Leadership roles as Global Client Service Partner and Senior Advisory Partner for a clients including Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Celgene, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Atrium Healthcare, and Morehouse School of Medicine. He served as EY’s Global Accounts Excellence & Innovation Chair leading EY’s G360 GCSP accounts excellence and innovation initiatives and was member of the Global Markets Leadership Team and Global Accounts Committee. He served as Americas Sustainability & ESG Markets Leader and Co-Founder of EY’s Americas Sustainability & ESG practice and was a member of EY’s Global Sustainability Executive Committee. Prior to joining EY in 2012, he held various management and account leadership roles at Deloitte Consulting including as Chief Diversity Officer and US Life Sciences M&A Leader.
He is an Advisor at Google X and a member of Goldman Sachs’s Launch With GS Advisory Board, a $1B+ groundbreaking social impact venture fund and accelerator investing in women, black, and latinx tech founders and VC fund managers. He served as a member of Big Think’s Advisory Board, advisor to New Lab, and currently serves as a VC advisor to Max Ventures. In 2014, he received a Presidential Appointment by President Barack Obama to the Global Board of Governors of the USO. He is a member of the Partnership for NYC (PFNYC), the Partnership Innovation Council, the Partnership Fund’s Healthcare Advisory Board, the Aspen Institute Business & Society Board of Advisors. He is a David Rockefeller Fellow, member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
Orlan is a passionate social entrepreneur having launched various award-winning social change and impact ventures. He is a passionate advocate for mental health and is Vice Chairman of The Trevor Project Board of Directors and was a member of the NYC LGBTQ Center’s Board of Directors. He was named to the OUTstanding and Financial Times list of the 2016 Top 100 LGBT Leaders. In 2013 he produced HBO’s critically acclaimed The Out List documentary film and book and in 2022 produced the award-winning epic feature film, Firebird. He was a co-author of I Am Ecowarrior. In 2020, Orlan co-authored the feature article, The Strategic Side Gig, published in Harvard Business Review Magazine and in 2021 was published in HBR’s 10 Must Reads on Career Resilience book.
He holds a B.S. in Finance and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
