Michael Quigley
Senior Partner
Kim & Chang
Michael Quigley first pursued the tax law as a trial attorney with the Department of Justice (Tax Division). After four years, he joined Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where he spent five years working with and learning from outstanding tax lawyers.
As a result of his high profile litigation work, Michael was later recruited by Akin Gump to advise Korean multinational companies on transfer pricing and international tax issues. He spent the next 13 years there honing his craft from the best in the profession.
In 2006 Michael and his team joined White & Case for their remarkable global footprint. He stayed there until 2013 when an extraordinary opportunity to work in Seoul with Kim & Chang (Korea’s preeminent law firm) arose. He now lives and works in Seoul focusing on international tax with a strong emphasis on cross-border tax issues.
The hallmark of his tax practice is advocacy. Michael aspires to join a deep knowledge of the tax law with an advocate’s skills of persuasion and to bring these attributes to any forum in which his clients’ interests are at stake. So, whether it is a courthouse or the Capitol, the U.S. Treasury or a foreign tax authority, a parliamentary body or an NGO, Michael seeks to develop a potent, effective and winning advocacy strategy to serve his clients’ aims.
