Erik K. Olstein, Board Chair & Trustee- Corporate and Nonprofit Governance
Erik K. Olstein is an investment management executive and board leader renowned for his extensive experience in investment management, corporate governance, and nonprofit leadership. He has successfully led numerous organizations through strategic growth and operational transformation, consistently demonstrating integrity and a commitment to long-term sustainability. Mr. Olstein’s governance experience encompasses both the corporate and nonprofit sectors.
Mr. Olstein is the first independent Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Trust for Professional Managers. In this role, he provides fiduciary oversight and strategic governance for a diverse range of investment portfolios. He leads the board in overseeing the trust’s funds to operate in the best interests of shareholders, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and greater transparency.
Additionally, he serves as President of the Board of Trustees at Trinity-Pawling School, bringing a personal connection and strategic vision to enhance the school’s lasting impact.
For over 25 years, Mr. Olstein, the former President of Olstein Capital Management, led the firm’s growth strategy, daily operations, and client development. His disciplined approach enhanced the firm’s reputation and built a team dedicated to the company’s value-driven investment philosophy.
His dedication to public service is evident in his role as Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the USS New York (LPD-21) Commissioning Committee. In this capacity, he raised millions of dollars to commission the ship in 2009. He collaborated with the commissioning committee’s co-chairs to establish the U.S. Naval Service Personnel Educational Assistance Fund, Inc., where he served as Trustee and Treasurer, providing crucial financial assistance to the crews of the USS New York and USS Michael Murphy. His past endeavors also include serving as President of the American Friends of the National Museum of the Royal Navy and as a Trustee of the National Maritime Historical Society.
His early career as a U.S. Navy officer reinforced his commitment to principled leadership and public service. Mr. Olstein is recognized for his leadership in investment management, operational excellence, fiduciary governance, and dedicated service in the nonprofit and educational sectors. He emphasizes a strategic vision for the organizations he serves.
