Question: What is the USO’s Goal in supporting Wounded Warriors and their families?

Answer: To build an interlocking community of care that extends from the point of injury on the battlefield to the return home to their communities across America.

When Staff Sgt. Raul Corral first joined the U.S. Army in order to improve his English-speaking skills, he became familiar with the USO during a deployment to the Middle East. Now stationed at USAG Baumholder, Germany, Raul has become an asset to his local USO Center while balancing his duties in the military.

As local communities wade through the damage and attempt to reach loved ones, members of the National Guard and the Coast Guard have responded with search and rescue efforts – and the USO is right beside them, offering support along the way.

Service Members in Iraq Send Back-to-School Care Packages to Their Children at Home Through the USO

Normally, during a deployment, it's the service member who receives a care package. But in this case, parents serving in Iraq flipped this tradition on its head and - with the help of the USO - assembled back-to-school care packages for their children back home. Even if they couldn't be there for their kids on their first day of school, the USO helped these military families remain connected throughout deployment.
