Since 2008, Sesame Street and the USO have partnered together for the Sesame Street/USO tour, a free, traveling show that has been visiting military bases around the world. The tour is a thank you to service members and their families for the many sacrifices they make.
The show’s themes deal with topics every military child will face at some point during their parent’s service and the positive messages empower kids and parents with confidence. Sesame Street and the USO even created a character named Katie just for this tour.
Katie is a military child and can only be seen on this tour. Military kids love her because they can relate to Katie moving to a new base or when Katie’s family leaves the military and transitions back to civilian life. The show has been seen by almost 600,000 service members and their families and that number continues to grow.
You can send a message of support and thanks directly to service members via the USO’s Campaign to Connect. Your messages will appear on screens at USO locations around the world.
