We know this much:
- it’s one of six original remaining USO buildings in the US
- it’s located at 4355 E. 9 Mile Road in Warren, MI
- it’s currently called the Fitzgerald Recreation Center
- it’s recently renovated after years of being closed
Now Blue Star Mothers of Blue Water Chapter 180 in St. Clair, MI, are hoping to find out any information about the original building: photos, stories, floor plans, posters, event programs, and any other memorabilia from the original USO functions that occurred there during WWII.
The chapter will be holding a fundraiser in the building this September, and hope to create an authentic historical experience for the party goers! If YOU have any information about this building, leave a message in the comments section. If you have photos or other digital media you’d like to share, please send us an email. We’ll keep you posted on what we discover!

It wasn’t long after his first delivery that Bob realized the donations runs had earned him a new nickname.
