What does a USO volunteer do?
USO volunteers strengthen the well-being of the people serving in America’s military by welcoming service members and their families to our USO locations, providing hospitality, and assisting with delivering our unique programs and activities in USO locations across the globe.
How do I find volunteer opportunities close to me?
There are more than 250 USO locations throughout the United States, Africa, Europe, Indo Pacific, and the Middle East, where volunteers can dedicate their time and efforts. Find your nearest USO center by searching our map. If you do not see a USO center near you, please email [email protected].
How do I volunteer overseas?
If you are already located overseas and are interested in volunteering, you can find a local USO center in your area by searching our map. Unfortunately, the USO is unable to relocate volunteers and we only accept volunteer applications from individuals currently living within the overseas region of interest.
Am I required to submit to a security or background check?
Yes. All volunteers 18 years and older must submit to a security or background check. Depending on the location, background or security checks may be conducted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a USO-approved vendor, or Department of Defense military installation.
I’m under 18, may I volunteer?
Volunteer opportunities for minors between the ages of 15-17 vary by location. Please find your nearest USO center by searching our map and starting the application process.
Can my company/organization/group volunteer together?
Each USO location has unique needs and handles groups of volunteers a little differently. To learn more about group volunteer opportunities in your area, please fill out this form and a USO staff member from that center will reach out to you.
I’ve moved and want to continue to volunteer. How do I do that?
If you have moved and want to continue volunteering with the USO, please log in and fill out a volunteer transfer request or contact your previous center to initiate a transfer. Please note that you will be asked to log into your USO volunteer account.
