USO Rings NASDAQ Closing Bell
Friday, December 28, 2012
USO President and CEO Sloan Gibson helped ring in the new year, in a manner of speaking, a few days early Thursday in New York City.
Gibson and members of USO of Metropolitan New York had the honor of ringing the closing bell to end a day of trading at NASDAQ, the world’s largest exchange company.
Gibson used the opportunity to extend his gratitude to those who enable the USO and its centers, programs and operations to lift the spirits of troops and their families across the globe.
"On all of [the troops'] behalf, on the behalf of their families back home, on behalf of wounded, ill and injured troops and their families and our families of the fallen, I want to thank the two million individual donors and the hundreds of corporations that make it possible for us to lift the spirits of America's troops and their families, around the world, all year long, but especially this time of year."
Gibson expressed his thanks to the USO’s corps of volunteers.
"Without you, what we do wouldn't be possible," he said. "While our donors may be our lifeblood, you, our volunteers, are our heart and soul."
