Front & Center: Kiki in Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii
“Travel was my number one [reason for joining the Air Force]. … The world is beautiful and you don’t really realize what’s out there until you get out there. A lot of people, they don’t leave their cities and they don’t leave their states, and they don’t know what’s out there. … It’s amazing to see how other people operate, how other cultures are, how other food tastes. … Because you don’t want to be stuck in the same routine. It’s nice to be in a routine, but it’s nice to see everything else.”
- Kiki, Air Force | Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii
Editor’s note: To help foster connection and understanding between civilians and service members, we created this series, “Front & Center,” and traveled to USO locations around the world to speak to troops about life in the military and the everyday things they love. Here’s what they had to say.
