Front & Center: Dan Angelo in Andersen Air Force Base, Guam
“The very first time I went to a USO was the day I got to go the Chicago airport. That’s where we checked in to let them know that, ‘Hey, I’m a recruit from Guam here to start my boot camp.’ I was there [at the USO] for a couple of hours before we got picked up. … That was my first time being out of Guam, on the mainland. At that time, I didn’t know what the USO was. They had food, cookies and everything.”
- Dan Angelo, Navy | Andersen Air Force Base, Guam
Editor’s note: To help foster connection and understanding between civilians and service members, we created this series, “Front & Center,” and traveled to USO locations around the world to speak to troops about life in the military and the everyday things they love. Here’s what they had to say.
