NEW YORK–Fashion designer Sherri Hill, 45 Miss USA and Miss Teen USA contestants and the ladies of "Duck Dynasty" helped make dreams come true for more than 300 military teens April 13 at USO Operation: That’s My Dress at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. To date, Hill has donated more than $1 million in dresses to teens from military families.
Dozens of donors came together to make the day possible, with USO volunteers doing hair and makeup while the Miss USA contestants performed a runway show to model the Sherri Hill dresses before helping girls from seven states pick out a free prom dress.
“This is not about a dress,” said Ray Kennedy, Vice President of Programs and Services for USO of Metropolitan New York. “It’s all about military families, but more importantly it’s about honoring the courage and sacrifice of the military teenage son or daughter who has sacrificed so much when their parent has deployed.”
