Christian Music Sensation Michael W. Smith Set to Visit Cuba on USO Tour

Award-winning Christian recording icon and author Michael W. Smith will head to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to visit with troops during his first USO tour August 5-7. Smith will perform many of his chart-topping hits, visit posts and sign autographs for the servicemen and women.
Throughout nearly three decades as a renowned recording star, Smith has worked beside some of the best in Christian music and amassed an impressive catalog of achievements, including an American Music Award, three Grammy Awards, 44 Dove Awards (given by the Gospel Music Association), 33 No. 1 radio hits. Known as “Smitty” to his legion of fans, he also holds 16 gold, seven platinum and two double-platinum albums with career sales of more than $15 million.
“Our nation’s troops and military families are among the bravest and most selfless people I know and we, as a nation, owe them not only our respect and gratitude but also our time,” Smith said, who has also penned 12 books. “I am just honored for the opportunity to travel to Guantanamo Bay with the USO and extend our nation’s thanks for their service.”
USO President and CEO Sloan Gibson welcomes Smith and his talents as part of the USO mission.
