PHOTOS: Drowning Pool Takes Its Edge to Troops in Europe

Monday, May 06, 2013

The hard-hitting rockers of Drowning Pool kicked off their USO Entertainment tour with fist-pumping performances for troops last Friday at the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall before moving on to U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach in Germany yesterday. The band, which is comprised of C.J. Pierce, Stevie Benton, Mike Luce and Jasen Moreno, will wrap up their weeklong tour with a performance tomorrow at U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart in Germany.

Prior to the tour, Drowning Pool hosted an album release party on April 3 in their hometown of Dallas and invited servicemen and women to attend a private acoustic performance in celebration of their fifth studio album's release, "Resilience." More than 100 guests attended the event and all proceeds were donated to the USO. (For more images, go to our Flickr set.)

Moreno, left, and guitarist C.J. Pierce elevate their performance at Mildenhall Air Base. As part of their first USO tour in 2005 and their second in 2006, the guys performed 16 USO concerts and boosted the morale of more than 20,000 troops serving in Kuwait, Iraq and Germany.

Said Pierce: "It’s a special honor for us as a band to perform for our troops and to let them know that we appreciate their sacrifice but most importantly, we are just happy to be able to put on a stellar performance and give them a show to remember."
