OKINAWA—Military spouses and active duty moms-to-be stationed in Japan were invited to attend one of three USO/What to Expect Special Delivery baby showers this week.

The showers provided the opportunity for military moms-to-be to bond and share experiences like being away from their family or coping with their husband missing the birth of their child. For many expecting moms, this is the only baby shower they will have.

Moms-to-be enjoyed lunch, received gift bags with lots of necessities for their newborn, played traditional baby shower games, enjoyed an intimate Q&A session with “What to Expect” author Heidi Murkoff and had the chance to win special raffle prizes like car seats and strollers. Shower attendees also went home with a book of their choosing from Murkoff’s “What to Expect” series, courtesy of the What to Expect Foundation.
