USO Begins Work on Center for Nashville International Airport

Thursday, January 17, 2013

The USO is coming to Nashville International Airport.

The USO will replace the airport’s current military lounge with a new center, slated to open in May in advance of the Nashville-hosted 2013 USO World Leadership Conference.

“The USO is America’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to our nation’s military,” said Alan Reyes, Senior Vice President of Operations for the USO. “We look forward to extending that gesture to the thousands of service members and their families with the opening of USO Nashville in May.”

Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the home of the Tennessee Air National Guard Base at Berry Field, one of the largest Air National Guard facilities in the country and currently serves more than 14,000 military servicemen and women and their families. BNA hopes to increase that number with the pending USO center.

”BNA salutes all members of the U.S. Armed Forces,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. “We are excited to have a USO center at Nashville International Airport for U.S. Armed Forces members and their families.”

The new center will be located on the Ground Transportation Level and will offer a host of programs and services for troops and military families including a children’s play area, entertainment, computer services and snacks.
