MMA Fighters Set to Bring Merriment to USO Centers in Italy

Tuesday, December 06, 2011

Top MMA fighters are set to bring some peace, harmony and glad tidings to Italy this holiday season.

former WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah “The California Kid” Faber, two-time XFO Lightweight (LW) and Xtreme Kage Kombat LW Champion Clay “The Carpenter” Guida and model/artist and UFC Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer will take part in a nine-day USO/Armed Forces Entertainment to sign autographs, pose for photos and host several MMA clinics with troops.

The tour will run from Dec. 12–20 so troops and families deployed to Italian posts should check with their respective USO centers for visit dates.

Faber recently defeated Brian Bowles at UFC 139 and currently holds a record of 26-5-0. Guida is a seven-year MMA veteran and currently holds a record of 29-9-0. Palmer studies art at UCLA and has been featured in dozens of MMA and sports magazines.

"Words can't explain how excited and honored I am to be [one] of the few and lucky fighters to be selected to go visit and support the troops on this USO tour," Guida said. "It will be very memorable experience visiting my ancestors' home country. It's all about the troops. Our freedom is not free. We fight for them because they put their lives on the line for us. Words just can't explain how much this mean to me."

Palmer is excited to take part to return the favor of freedom that is bestowed upon all Americans by our armed forces.

"I am lucky to be able to pursue my dreams of being an artist," Palmer said. "I owe all of this to the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for all Americans, taking part in my first USO tour seemed like the best way to say thank you."
