UFC's Urijah Faber, Clay Guida and Brittney Palmer recently traveled to Italy, on what was the trio's first USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour. The group visited six bases in nine days, to sign autographs, pose for photos and share takedown techniques with troops.
From left to right, the UFC's Urijah Faber, Brittney Palmer and Clay Guida pose for a photo with troops in Italy as part of their first USO tour on Dec. 18. Among the installations the crew visited were Naval Air Station Sigonella, NSA Naples, Camp Darby, USAG Vicenza, Aviano Air Base and Ghedi Air Base, meeting with hundreds of servicemen and women and their families.
UFC's Urijah Faber grapples with troops as part of his first USO tour, giving lessons he has learned to become a former World Extreme Cagefighting Featherweight Champion. Faber also holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
"This USO tour has been amazing," Faber said. "Being able to meet with the men and women who fight for this country is an honor I will never forget. As a fighter, there is no one I respect more than the men and women who defend our country."
UFC's Clay Guida, (second from left), shares some of his training tips with the troops. Obviously a man to be reckoned with, Guida has held the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship, is a two-time XFO Lightweight Champion among his many accolades.
"I am happy and proud to be a part of this USO tour," Guida said. "So far, the best part has been spending time with troops and listening to their stories. I can't think of a better way to get into the holiday spirit than by giving back to our troops.""
Tough to tell who's laughing harder: UFC Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer or her pint-sized fan. Palmer is a model and artist and a popular UFC Octagon Girl who has been featured in dozens of MMA and sports magazines.
"It's so great to see the smiles on the faces of troops and their families," Palmer said. "This is my first USO tour and it's been life-changing. I am so thankful to be spending this holiday season with our troops and their families."
