Romain Starts 'With You All the Way' 2012 Tour in Pacific
Thursday, January 12, 2012
A new calendar year brings a new Trevor Romain and the With You All the Way tour to military families and communities throughout the world.
This year's tour will be our largest With You All the Way effort to date, stopping in nearly every U.S. military base in the Pacific and then doing the same for Germany in the fall. Tomorrow, the tour will kick off with performances throughout Hawaii and Guam from Jan. 11-25. The crew will then head to Korea and Japan from Feb. 2-14.
Trevor Romain is an entertainer, author and illustrator who specializes in helping children of military families deal with life issues like the challenges of relocation, the deployment of their parents and the loss of loved ones. His presentations connect with kids on several levels, mixing discussions with cartoons and videos that provide important lessons for elementary school children of all ages.
In a recent interview, Trevor described his approach and how the kids return the favor by always teaching him new things, as well.
"They really taught me that with the right tools, they can be really resilient," he said. "And also [they taught him] to really just 'be real.' They know when you are conning them. They know when you're being preachy. For me, it's sharing my own personal stories; being real about it opens them up to receive the information we’re giving. So there's an authenticity that I think they’ve taught me to adhere to."
