Three days into his six-day USO tour to the Pacific, Trace Adkins has lifted the spirits of more than 1,000 airmen, soldiers, sailors and their families. Having just wrapped up spirit lifting USO visits to Yokota Air Base and Misawa Air Base, the country music star will visit Camp Hansen on Friday followed by Kadena Air Base on Saturday. This is the singer's seventh USO tour but his first USO visit to the Pacific. (More images can be found on our Flickr set.)
Trace Adkins performs his second USO show of the tour for more than 1,000 airmen and their families stationed at Misawa Air Base. In 2002, Adkins was among the first group of entertainers to travel to the Middle East.
Adkins shakes hands with concertgoers at Misawa Air Base.
"A lot of people get attention for the wrong reasons, but the true measure of a hero is serving others," Adkins said. "Our servicemen and women stationed around the globe are the real people who fit that bill. They devote their lives to supporting our nation, protecting our freedoms and sacrificing their lives. And deserve all the recognition and thanks we can give them. Each and every USO tour I go out on is important and unique, and this one is no different."
Following his first USO show in Japan at Yokota Air Base, Adkins poses for photos and autographs lots of items, even a fan's boot.
High in the control tower of the Yokota Air Base flight line, Adkins chats with airmen as they explain military operations.
