VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.—On St. Patrick’s Day, Grammy-nominated country music group The Band Perry played for American troops at Royal Air Force Lakenheath in the United Kingdom, marking the first USO tour stop for the award-winning family trio.

“It was funny because everyone had red, white, blue—and green—on for the occasion,” Kimberly Perry said when the USO caught up with the band before their performance at the USO Virginia Beach Patriotic Festival on May 31.

Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry spent their time in the UK talking with service members, touring the base and performing a free concert for nearly 1,000 troops and family members.

“They were such a responsive audience, and that’s what we love most about playing shows, is whenever the crowds are crazy and are singing along,” Neil Perry said. “It was just fun having all the families there.”
