Fort Hood - How You Can Help

The USO at Fort Hood, Texas is a vital member of the Fort Hood community, serving the needs of the military and family members on the post. During the Fort Hood shooting incident on November 5, the USO was locked down with 35 service members waiting inside until the all clear was announced. At that time, the center director supported those inside and started preparations to immediately support the entire post.

A Mobile USO unit has been providing 24-hour support at the Soldier Readiness Processing site, providing meals and snacks for responders, investigators, and support personnel, as well as the entire Fort Hood community. A second Mobile USO arrived the evening of Fri. Nov 6 and continues to assist the troops, families and command at Fort Hood.

The needs are great – from grief counseling, to providing meals or just a safe place to relax - and we will assist in any way we can. Local USO staff are accepting supplies and cash donations from area businesses. Robin Crouse, USO Fort Hood's director, had this to say: "I'm feeding my soldiers that I feel are on sacred ground right now. We're not gone until they tell us to be gone." To donate at the local level, contact USO Fort Hood at 254-768-2771 or by email.

Outside of the Fort Hood community, donations to this effort can be made online. Every dollar raised will support the Fort Hood community.

Thank you for joining us in this cause.
