NASCAR Donates Tickets as Stars Stenhouse, Suarez Visit Luke AFB
Friday, March 01, 2013
NASCAR and Phoenix International Raceway saluted America’s armed forces and the USO with a donation of 600 tickets to two of the upcoming races this weekend while two rising racing stars paid a special USO visit to Luke Air Force Base yesterday.
The tickets, which were distributed to troops and their families by USO Arizona, are for Mexico’s NASCAR Toyota Series race today and the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 200 Fueled by AmeriGas tomorrow. Both races take place at Phoenix International Raceway.
In honor of the donation, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and NASCAR up-and-coming driver Daniel Suárez dropped by Luke Air Force Base to mingle, talk racing and answer questions from military members and their families.
The USO first began working with NASCAR in 2011. This visit marks the first USO tour for Suárez and the second for Stenhouse, who traveled to Kuwait and Germany in December 2012 and visited with more than 655 military personnel.
