NEW YORK – Margaux Mange’s moment is almost here.
The medically retired Army sergeant-turned-adventurer is set to depart England en route to the South Pole on Sunday, where she and the other wounded warriors in the Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge will spend weeks trekking to the bottom of the globe. The USO is sponsoring Mange’s journey.
Mange and her teammates are currently on a whirlwind public relations tour of Great Britain, which included a Thursday stop in London’s Trafalgar Square where Prince Harry officially launched the expedition.
The USO caught up with Mange last week at Manhattan’s Cornell Club for the Walking With The Wounded team’s stateside sendoff. In the video below, Mange tells the story of how she was injured and how she fought through the pain to establish a new life as an adventurer.
