Vote Today: Jeep to Honor USO Volunteer With Hero at Home Award

Thursday, September 26, 2013

From staff reports

They’re three examples of giving.

One is a Vietnam veteran who can fix anything and has a friendly ear for troops in trouble. One is a former Department of Defense civilian who volunteers nearly 40 hours a month despite having a full-time job. And one is a diligent jack-of-all-trades who doesn’t “wait to be asked” in an emergency.

And now USO partner Jeep wants to honor one them.

From now through Monday, Jeep is inviting Americans to log onto and vote for one of three USO volunteers to win the Hero At Home Award. You can also read the stories of these three volunteers – Norm Hallowell, Suzette Youngblood and Gloria Derobertis – and find out what inspires them to give back to America’s troops and their families through the USO.

The winner will be announced Oct. 10 at the Daily Beast’s Hero Summit in Washington, D.C.
