The “Salute to the Military” USO concert and Fourth of July celebration at the White House welcomes one of country music’s biggest stars to perform for the first family and some our nation’s troops and their families.
Chart-topping artist Brad Paisley will headline the fourth annual event that includes a barbecue, family-friendly games, a musical selection by “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band and a capitol view of the Washington, D.C. fireworks.
A three-time Grammy Award-winner, Paisley has placed more than 20 singles at the top of the charts and been awarded 14 Country Music Association Awards including the 2010 “Entertainer of the Year.”
“The Fourth of July has always been about family, freedom and celebration,” Paisley said. “I am so honored to be spending my holiday performing a USO concert for our troops and their families and to be celebrating those freedoms with the men and women who put everything on the line to defend them.”
USO President and CEO Sloan Gibson said: “Every day of the year, the USO finds ways to support and thank our troops and their families for their service. As we head into our fourth annual ‘Salute to the Military’ celebration at the White House, it’s important to reflect on those sacrifices made by our troops and their families and to tell them how much they are appreciated. Take a moment this July 4th to say ‘thank you’ to our service men and women and their families.”
The event is expected to be attended by more than 1,200 troops and military families and will be streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov.
